3P Planning Approach©

A smarter approach to planning your future, reaching your goals and protecting your most valuable resources

GWA Planning Approach

Live More, Worry Less

We follow a dynamic planning approach when meeting someone for the first time. We call it the 3P Approach© and it adheres to the Certified Financial Planner™ practice standards. This proprietary process relies on a partnership philosophy and follows a series of six steps which guide us both through creating your unique plan.

Our clients are partners. Together we share a single goal of reaching your financial dreams today and in retirement. Working together in the spirit of mutual trust, respect, and understanding are essential to this long-term partnership.

Plan, Prosper, and Protect

From defining the relationship, to stepping into your shoes and developing your plan, every journey begins with a well-designed roadmap. Before implementing your plan and watching it take flight, our process focuses on the relationship and ensures it is a good fit for both of us. In our first meeting we use the opportunity to learn about each other before entering into a partnership.  Subsequent meetings expand upon our planning approach, as we explore your personal financial profile in depth, examine which of our 7 pillars of financial success apply to your current situation, and ensure you are comfortable with our process all along the way.

Our financial advisors work with your other advisors to form a trusted team that works cohesively. Together, we implement an investment and tax reduction strategy.  Then as each target is met, we help protect your portfolio from potential hazards. To ensure you stay on track, we work as your own personal CFO to help you manage your fears and natural responses to them. It’s in these activities that you’ll begin to see the importance of our 3P Approach©.

Planning Approach

Our planning approach is designed so that you never outgrow a stagnant plan, rather the plan continues to evolve as your life unfolds. This process was developed and refined through years of experience and has resulted in long-term clients, generational planning and helping our clients retire when they want to or get to a “work-optional” lifestyle.

Here’s a closer look at the six steps it takes to get started:

Step One: Discover Back to Top

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.” Pablo Picasso

Commitments and Why You'll Need an Advisor Team With Hands Intertwined in Circle

In our first visit, we will have a mutual evaluation, to determine if and how our services will best fit your needs and objectives. We work for a select clientele who are driven to reach their goals, and who value advice and are fun to work with.

During this no-cost consultation no decisions will be made. We won’t be asking you to bring your financial documents with you, instead we spend the time discussing your situation and our services to ensure your financial profile fits what we do best.

In this meeting or the next, we will quote a fee, based upon the anticipated time and complexity of your financial situation. We believe that knowing the total cost up front allows us both the freedom to work through the planning process. It also allows clients to contact and meet with us without the pressure of unanticipated fees.

Step Two: Fit Call Back to Top

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” Mike Tyson

Discovery

As part of our unique 3P Approach©, we take time to assess all that we have learned about each other during the first discovery meeting. We carefully consider your situation to determine if there is a good fit with our philosophy and approach.

We only take on a handful of clients each year and it is really important to us that we can both see a long-term relationship forming.

Step Three: Fact Find Back to Top

“Like any good tree that one would hope to grow, we must set our roots deep into the ground so that what is real will prosper.” Billy Corgan

Analyze and Evaluate

Our goal during this crucial fact-finding period is to step into your financial shoes so we can begin to understand your thought processes. During a second meeting, we discuss your goals, views, attitudes, concerns and current financial situation, which become the basis for a financial model.

An important aspect of discovery is understanding behavioral management, which will play a huge role in the likelihood of reaching your goals. Also in this meeting, we review the engagement proposal, which outlines the work we will do together over the next 12-months.

Step Four: Develop Back to Top

“The power of intuitive understanding will protect you until the end of your days.” Lao Tzu

Develop

In this step, we provide a detailed analysis of your situation, trying on a multitude of ideas and modeling “what-if’s” to determine the best path to reach your desired outcome. Working with some of the brightest minds in the planning industry, we will do an exhaustive search to find the solutions that make the most sense for you.

During our third meeting, we present a plan unique to your situation which outlines the logical progression of objectives, observations and recommendations. With you the CEO, and us acting as your CFO, we dissect the pros and cons of each strategy through an economic model to help you understand their impact, so you are able to make an informed decision.

Step Five: Implement Back to Top

“The conventional view serves to protect us from the painful job of thinking.” John Kenneth Galbraith

Implementing a financial plan

At this stage, the team aspect of the planning process is fully realized as we work with your other advisors and continually act as a key to the marketplace on your behalf.

As Accredited Investment Fiduciaries (AIF®) we will act in your best interests, never led by commissions. Whether through evaluating various investment options and products, coordinating tax and estate strategies or evaluating specific financial products, we help ensure they are right for each of your plan strategies.

Step Six: Review Back to Top

“Like a precious family heirloom, freedom is not just ours to enjoy, but to treasure, protect, and pass on to future generations.” Lao Tzu

3P Approach

Because the planning process is ever changing and evolving, as your financial planners we provide you with on-going review of where our efforts have brought us, and what needs to be done in the coming year. This is where you will watch your plan evolve with you, as your life unfolds.
