Chris Powers, CFP®, AIF®, AEP®

Chris Powers was born in San Diego just a few hours after his dad flew home from a U.S. Navy carrier deployment. After his dad separated from the Navy, his family moved around the country while his amazing mom helped everyone settle in. Some of the places he lived include the Dallas and Houston areas of Texas; Nashville, Tennessee; Jackson, Mississippi; and Rochester, New York where he completed high school.

Chris was awarded an Air Force scholarship and chose to join the Corps of Cadets where he earned a Bachelor of Science at Texas A&M University. After college, he worked in the oil and gas field before serving five years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. During his service, he attended night school and completed a Master of Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Blessed with two daughters and achieving the rank of captain, he decided to grow roots in the San Antonio, Texas area.

Chris began his career as a financial advisor after separating from the Air Force. More recently he owned Empower Wealth Advisors in San Antonio for 22 years where the motto was, “Don’t just plan it. Do it.” He has partnered with Global Wealth Advisors as a Managing Partner in the San Antonio office.  He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification which is awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. He also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary^® and the Accredited Estate Planner^® designations. From 2013-2014, he served as President of the San Antonio Estate Planners Council.

When not at work, Chris cherishes time with family and enjoys saltwater fishing, hunting, scuba diving, and travel. His exciting adventures have taken him to: South Africa, Zambia, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Greece, Germany, Croatia, Montenegro, Italy, Spain, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Iceland, Austria, Hungary, and the Virgin Islands. Ever the world traveler, in 2019 he proposed to his wife in the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. Despite the 2020 pandemic, they married and blended her daughter and son with his family, bringing them the joys of a full house.
