A six-step process to help ensure success
If you have ever played in a sport, or gone fishing or hunting, you probably spent a good bit of time practicing or preparing. For example, Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player ever, once said that 90% of his time is spent practicing his craft, and only 10% is spent on the game floor. Preparing for your biggest dreams, like a retirement that will last many decades, should be treated with the same care and attention.
To help you reach those dreams, we have developed and refined a planning process adhering to the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) financial planning practice standards. A hallmark of this process means we work with your other advisors (accountant/CPA, attorney, bookkeeper, insurance agent, etc.) to form a trusted team; all working cohesively with your best interests in mind.
“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.” Pablo Picasso
In our first visit, we will have a mutual evaluation, to determine if and how our services will best fit your needs and objectives. We work for a select clientele who are driven to reach their goals, value advice and are fun to work with.
During this no-cost consultation we discuss, in detail, your situation and our services to ensure your financial profile fits what we do best. In this meeting or the next, we will quote a fee, based upon the anticipated time and complexity of your financial situation. Knowing the total cost up front allows us the freedom to work through the planning process and allows our clients to contact and meet with us without the pressure of unanticipated fees.
“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” Mike Tyson
Our goal is to step into your financial shoes so we can begin to understand your thought processes. In this crucial fact-finding step, we discuss your goals, views, attitudes, concerns and current financial situation, which become the basis for a financial model. An important aspect of discovery is understanding behavioral management, which will play a huge role in the likelihood of reaching your goals. Also in this meeting, we review the engagement proposal, which outlines the work we will do together over the next 12-months.
“Like any good tree that one would hope to grow, we must set our roots deep into the ground so that what is real will prosper.” Billy Corgan
In this step, we provide a detailed analysis of your situation, trying on a multitude of ideas and modeling “What-if’s” to determine the best path to reach your desired outcome. Working with some of the brightest minds in the planning industry, we will do an exhaustive search to find the solutions that make the most sense for you.
“The power of intuitive understanding will protect you until the end of your days.” Lao Tzu
During this meeting, we present a plan unique to your situation which outlines the logical progression of objectives, observations and recommendations. With you the CEO, and us acting as your CFO, we dissect the pros and cons of each strategy through an economic model to help you understand their impact, so you are able to make an informed decision.
“The conventional view serves to protect us from the painful job of thinking.” John Kenneth Galbraith
At this stage, the team aspect of the planning process is fully realized as we work with your other advisors and continually act as a key to the marketplace on your behalf. As Accredited Investment Fiduciaries (AIF®) we will always act in your best interests, never led by commissions. Whether through evaluating various investment options and products, coordinating tax and estate strategies or evaluating specific financial products, we help ensure they are right for each of your plan strategies.
“Like a precious family heirloom, freedom is not just ours to enjoy, but to treasure, protect, and pass on to future generations.” Lao Tzu
Because the planning process is ever changing and evolving, as your financial planners we provide you with on-going review of where our efforts have brought us, and what needs to be done in the coming year.
